Erneut gibt es ein weiteres Filmprogramm von dem Film Der Hund von Baskerville . Ich finde gerade diese verschiedenen Varianten eines Sherlock-Holmes-Films immer spannend. Erneut handelt es sich also wieder um die Hammer Produktion mit Peter Cushing als Sherlock Holmes und André Morell als Dr. Watson.
Die Vorderseite
Auch wie im letzten Filmprogramm zu Sherlock Holmes größter Fall (siehe hier) finde ich die Vorderseite nicht sehr gelungen. Vergleicht man das Cover mit dem Filmprogramm von 1959, so finde ich diese Programm deutlich schlechter. Man sieht einen Peter Cushing in zweifacher Ausführung. Links wird eine berühmte Szene aus dem Film gezeigt, wo Holmes in Deerstalker und Inverness Cape mit seiner Lupe das Messer untersucht. Eine absolute tolle und klassische Szene! Rechts sieht man einen Holmes in heroischer Pose und dem winzigen Revolver. Ich frage mich auch allerdings wo die beiden Cushing eingefügt worden sind. Ist das ein Fenster vom Haus der Baskervilles? Sieht ein wenig merkwürdig aus…
Auch ein wenig unpassend wirkt die Schriftart, bzw. eher die Ausführung davon. Die Schrift wirkt zunächst normal mit ausgefransten Rändern. Doch warum ist der in Der Hund von Baskerville kleingeschrieben?
Die Rückseite
Auf der Rückseite befinden sich dafür 4 Szenen aus dem Film. Die ausgewählten Szenen sind wahre Klassiker aus dem Film. Oben spricht Holmes mit Dr. Mortimer. In der Mitte ist der grandiose Christopher Lee als Sir Henry Baskerville und Cecile.
Unten gibt es dann eine Erweiterung der Szene von der Vorderseite. Ein wenig rausgezoomt, sieht man dann, dass auch Dr. Watson das Messer mit untersucht. Ebenso auf der rechten Seite steht Watson zusammen mit Sherlock Holmes und ihre Revolver im Anschlag. Erneut komisch finde ich die Linien von oben nach unten, die ein wenig fehl platziert wirken.
Innenseite
Aufgeklappt gibt es wie immer die Schauspielerliste und ihre Rollen und eine sehr umfassende Zusammenfassung des Films. Leider gibt es wie in den anderen Filmprogrammen keinerlei Szenen, die die Zusammenfassung unterstützen.
Die Zusammenfassung ist mit vielen Spoilern und Lösungen gespickt. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle nur den letzten Satz hervorheben, der im Grunde die ganze Lösung aufzeigt:
„Die Geschichte vom legendären ‚Höllenhund‘ entpuppt sich damit als ein von Menschenhand gesteuerter ungeheuerlicher Betrug und die Ermordung der Herren von Baskerville Hall als ein kalter Racheakt.“
Insgesamt betrachte ist dieses Filmprogramm zu Der Hund von Baskerville doch enttäuschend. Was ich mich noch gefragt habe, ist, warum es eine weitere Ausgabe eines Filmprogramms 1967 gab. Der Film kam laut imdb.com in Westdeutschland 1959 und in Ostdeutschland 1964 heraus. Gab es in Österreich 1967 eine weitere Aufführung in den Kinos zu Der Hund von Baskerville?

For a second time, I would like to present a movie magazine on Der Hund von Baskerville. I really like the different variants and editions of a Sherlock Holmes film and their magazines. Again, this magazine is from the Hammer production with Peter Cushing as Sherlock Holmes and André Morell as Dr. Watson.
The frontcover
As in the previous magazine (A Study in Terror), I think this cover is not convincing. If you compare this cover with the cover from the 1959 edition, you can see the difference.
On this cover you can see Peter Cushing twice (as he was cloned). On the left, there is the absolute classic scene, where Holmes wears the deerstalker and the Inverness Cape and examines with his lens the dagger. An absolute classic and great scene! On the right there is another Cushing in a heroic Sherlock Holmes pose with his rather tiny revolver. I really wonder where the two Cushings were placed in. Is it a window of the Baskerville Hall? Looks rather odd.
Also not very convincing is the the font of Der Hund von Baskerville. Die font looks a bit boring with frayed edges. But why is der in Der Hund von Baskerville written in small letters?
The backcover
On the back there 4 different scene from the movie. The selected scenes are classic scenes from the movie. On top there is Mr. Holmes speaking to Dr. Mortimer. In the middle you can see the wonderful Christopher Lee as Sir Henry Baskerville and Cecile.
At the bottom are some extension from the frontcover scenes. There you can see that also Dr. Watson examines the dagger and he also plays an important role in the action revolver scene. Again, these four bars from the top to bottom are quite odd and do not fit to the overall style.
Inside
If you open the magazine you can find the cast of Der Hund von Baskerville and a very detailed summary. Unfortunately, as in the previous magazines, there are no scenes from the movie to support the summary.
The summary has a lot of spoilers and solutions. In this case, because the overall content of the film should be familiar, I just want to point out the last sentence of the magazine which basically reveals the whole mystery:
„Die Geschichte vom legendären ‚Höllenhund‘ entpuppt sich damit als ein von Menschenhand gesteuerter ungeheuerlicher Betrug und die Ermordung der Herren von Baskerville Hall als ein kalter Racheakt.“
„The story of the legendary ‚hell hound‘ turned out to be an outrageous fraud which was made by humans and the murder of the gentlemen at Baskerville Hall was a cold act of revenge.“
All in all, I am really disappointed with the magazine of Der Hund von Baskervile. I was really wondering why there was a second magazine published for the movie. According to imdb.com the movie was published in West Germany in the year 1959 and in East Germany 1964. Was there a second screening in the cinemas? Is it the release in Austria?
