Gerade wenn man neu in der Welt von Sherlock Holmes ist, dann finde ich Listen über die Top 10 / 50 / 100 der Sherlock-Holmes-Bücher sehr hilfreich und geben dem Anfänger eine gute Orientierung. Selbstverständlich ist die Anfertigung der Liste subjektiv. Jeder würde so eine Liste anders gestalten. Heute gucken wir uns die Top 50 Liste der The Shingle of Southsea an.
Eine klare Referenz zu…?
Selbstverständlich fällt einem geneigten Sherlock-Holmes-Fan (und Verfolger dieses Blogs, höhö) sofort die bekannte Liste The Shaw 100 ein, die von John Bennett Shaw zusammengestellt wurde (Falls ihr den Artikel noch nicht gelesen habt, dann gibt es hier die Chance dazu!). Das ist sozusagen der heilige Gral der Sherlock-Holmes-Listen, obwohl man natürlich sagen muss, dass es rein subjektiv ist!
Im Eingangstext habe ich es bereits angeteasert. Heute schauen wir uns die The Shingle’s Fifty an, eine Zusammenstellung von der Sherlock-Holmes-Gesellschaft The Shingle of Southsea Holmesian Society („a group dedicated to all things Holmesian, based in the Portsmouth and Southsea area in the UK“.) Initiator der ganzen Gesellschaft ist Paul Thomas Miller, der in Portsmouth in seiner The Sherloft sein sherlockianisches Hobby auslebt. Man sieht sofort, dass Sherlock-HolmesBücher anders klassifiziert wurden und dementsprechend moderner und zeitgemäßer geworden sind. The Shaw 100 ist, man kann es fast schon sagen, ein wenig veraltet. The Shaw betrachtet den Zeitraum von 1977-1993. Aus meiner Sicht sind die neuen, erweiterten Kategorien mit Graphic Novels und Comics absolut passend und zeitgemäß. In meiner Sammlung habe ich auch einige tolle Comics.

Wie findet ihr die Liste? Aus meiner Sicht ergänzt sich diese Liste sehr gut mit modernen, neuen Titeln. Beispiel wären hier natürlich das absolut grandiose Buch From Holmes to Sherlock von Mattias Boström oder auch The Whole Art of Detection.
Auch wenn dieser SherlockSunday eher eine Liste von Sherlock-Holmes-Büchern ist, hoffe ich, dass es für euch trotzdem eine Anregung ist. Und auch wenn es nur das Zählen der Titel ist, die man selber im Regal hat… (Bei mir waren es grob überschlagen leider nur um die 15 Titel).
